From Liberia
When you exit the airport service road, take a right toward Sardinal/Filadelfia, and continue 29 km to the Belén intersection. At the Belén intersection, take a right toward Huacas, following signs to Hotel Sugar Beach, Tamarindo, Flamingo, Melia Conchal. Follow this road for 26 km, over a small mountain, and crossing through Huacas. Just after Huacas, take the first right following signs to Flamingo, Hotel Sugar Beach, Potrero.
Stay on this road for 9 km, passing through Brasilito. At the junction for Flamingo / Potrero, veer right onto the dirt road toward Potrero. Turn right at the restaurant 'El Castillo', and left at 'La Perla's". When the road ends in a T intersection in front of Bahia Esmeralda, turn left into the town of Potrero. Drive past the soccer field, and turn right again. Take the 2nd left, where the road forks in two. Follow this road another 2.5 kilometers until you reach Hotel Sugar Beach (7km of dirt road total). The last hill is bumpy, but at the bottom you'll find the entrance to the hotel.
From San Jose
Take the PanAmerica Highway #1 north toward Naranjo, Grecia, Palmares, San Ramon, Puntarenas & Liberia. The highway is two-lane and very winding and hilly. Continue 120km (73 miles) to an intersection at the town of Limonal, where there is a big Shell gas station. Turn left here toward the Tempisque Bridge (Puente de la Amistad Costa Rica - Taiwan), following signs to Nicoya. Cross the bridge, and continue until you reach an intersection; turn right, following signs to Nicoya. Once at Nicoya, continue straight through, past Santa Cruz, until you reach Belén; turn left at the intersection (another gas station), following signs to Hotel Sugar Beach, Tamarindo, Melia Conchal and Flamingo. Follow the road for 26 km, over a small mountain, and crossing through Huacas. Just after Huacas, take the first right following signs to Flamingo, Hotel Sugar Beach, Potrero.
