Energy consumption

SUGAR-BEACH.comIn 2004 the hotel installed solar water heaters in some of our buildings. If you are staying in a room overlooking the pool, your water is heated with the solar units. Other rooms use on-demand systems that use less energy than a traditional water heater over time.

Whenever possible, we create open spaces that do not require air conditioning, however we provide AC units for all sleeping areas. We encourage you to take advantage of the cool ocean breeze whenever possible, however be sure to lock away your valuables and put away any food – otherwise you may receive unexpected wildlife visits!

Other improvements have included upgraded electrical equipment, removing undersized or old cables, eliminating air conditioning from the back office and reception. We continue to update our systems wherever possible, and we are aware of the need to continue to improve in this area.

Note: frequent black outs do not have anything to do with saving energy, but a fragile electrical infrastructure in Guanacaste that is sometimes compromised and other times over-extended.
