Gift Shop
The Hotel Sugar Beach has a gift shop that features books, nature guides & maps, Costa Rican & World music and local art and handicrafts. Here you will find the famed Guaitil pottery, made with the ancient traditional techniques used by the Chorotega Indians. The materials used are taken from the nearby hills, and the pots are fashioned and painted by hand without electricity or foot pedals, and fired in large, outdoor ovens.
Our shop supports the Widecast organization, a group working in tandem with others to help preserve our sea turtle habitats. This is done by collecting hazardous plastic bags from the marine environment, and weaving them into beautiful shopping and handbags. The weavers, coastal rural women, also gain their livelihoods by their art.
For your convenience, our gift shop also carries swimwear, sunscreen, toothpaste, toothbrushes and various body care items, as well as an assortment of other useful goods.
