Ecotrans is a local tour company that provides full and half-day tours to nearby attractions such as volcanoes, river-rafting, national parks, even across the border to explore Nicaragua's volcanoes and charming colonial cities. Most tours can be booked during your stay, however some tours may be seasonal or require advance notice (see tour descriptions). Please contact us for prices and reservations.

Strapped by harness on a high wire, you will fly from tree platform to platform. An exhilarating way to view nature!

Las Baulas Marine National Park

This nighttime seasonal tour operates from late November through January. Witness the miracle of the impressive giant leatherback turtle climbing the sands of nearby Playa Grande to bury her eggs. The tour begins at high tide in the evening hours. Playa Grande is part of the Las Baulas National Park, one of the most important Pacific nesting sites for the endangered leatherback turtle. The park is monitored by rangers and supported by donations, including proceeds from the tours. Groups of volunteers and students also monitor the turtles and incubate some eggs in order to protect them from predators. Although it is sometimes difficult to get a reservation for this tour, we highly recommend going. These critically endangered turtles are the largest marine turtle species in the world, reaching up to two meters in length.

Guachipelin Adventure

Visit a sprawling, active ranch in the foothills of the Rincón de la Vieja National Park. This tour includes many activities: tubing, horseback riding, canyon canopy, hiking around volcanic mud pools and thermal waters.

Buena Vista Canopy & Natural Spa

Enjoy a day of adventure walking trails, zip line, a 1500-foot water slide and horseback riding, ending the day relaxing in a natural mud spa with thermal waters and a steambath.

Arenal Volcano & National Park

View Lake Arenal, hike a volcano and visit a natural mineral spa. Arenal is one of the Costa Rica's active volcanoes, offering impressive views of lava flows on clear days and nights. Full day tour.

Monteverde Cloud Forest Tour

Hanging bridges strung across treetops, butterfly gardens, insect & reptile exhibitions throughout the Selvatura Park.

Palo Verde National Park

Enjoy a two-hour boat ride on the Tempisque River. This tour features excellent bird watching, and a host of other wildlife such as crocodiles, monkeys, coatis, anteaters & other wild animals along the shores of the river.

Rincón de la Vieja National Park

Hike the impressive and varied landscape of this volcanic national park. Bordered by ranches, at the heart of the park are waterfalls, volcanic thermal waters, bubbling fumaroles and shrouded forest paths with a plethora of biodiversity. Trails allow you to customize the length of your hike, from just one hour to a full-day tour of the park.

Colorado River Rafting

Class II-III, no experience necessary, includes 1.5 hours on the river with stops at swimming holes. Paddling through canyons and beautiful scenery, this tour offers an intimate experience with nature.

Tenorio River Rafting

Class III-V, for experienced rafters, full of twists and turns, this river adventure is an adrenaline rush! There is a 10-mile drop with challenging rapids. Rafters must be in good physical condition.

Corobici River Float

The Corobici float is good for beginners yet offers the joy of white water rafting. Inexperienced rafters will learn to navigate the gentle waters while enjoying the spectacle of riparian wildlife.

Nicaragua Tours

A one-day excursion to the southern pacific area of Nicaragua. Options include city tours of historic architecture and an outdoor craft market, volcano tours and other attractions. This tour requires advance notice.
